Network communication failed?

My setup: Retrospect Engine 8.1.626 on a Mac Mini with 4 GB RAM and 4 TB Mercury Elite AL Pro Qx2 on Firewire. Retrospect Console on the Mini and on a MacBook Pro.

Last night's backup of two favorite folders from a single client failed in the middle of the first folder with a 'network communication failed' error. The second folder completed successfully. The backup of the second, albeit smaller, folder appears to have started right after the failure and completed without problems. (To me, this mitigates against failures related to the client, e.g., going to sleep, blue screen, reboot.) If this was really a transient network failure, shouldn't Retrospect do a better job of retrying network operations before giving up? Or is there some knob I can set to achieve this?

The log:

I have a similar situation: two favorite folder on a client (client being a 10.5.8 OSX server) that will occasionally -- maybe one out of every 9-10 times -- not backup the contents of one of the favorite folders, but will always back up the other..

And, since I use Proactive scripts backing up this favorite folder daily, it'll back up the same "bad" folder correctly when it retries 30 minutes later.

No idea why, either -- and I can't reproduce it consistently. It's just something I notice in the logs.
