Any disadvantages of NOT using Snapshots in backup strategy

Hi,

what would be some of the disadvantages of NOT using Snapshots while backing up workstations ?

 

During my tests of Single Server 7.6.123 proactive backups of Windows clients I noticed the following :

 

Pros :

if I don't use Snapshots, .RDB files do NOT increase in size, if no new/changed files are detected. If I check Snapshots, .RDB files increase in size by 300MB every backup ( in my case ), EVEN if no new/changed files are detected !!??

 

Cons:

I cannot use Restore option when no snapshosts exist ( But i can still use Find Files or Sessions from Reports )

 

Any other cons ?

If you turn off snapshots then you can not use grooming. It also means restores of an entire volume will be almost impossible.
