rlshew
Is Retrospect UIR supposed to appear as a program in addition to Retrospect 7.7 in the Programs and Features control panel of Server 2008 as it did in Server 2003? I installed UIR through the Retrospect Preferences widow and entered the license number in License Manager, but UIR isn't in the Programs list. I'm trying to troubleshoot my web interface for UIR. All I'm getting, even with IIS 6 and 7 plus ASP.NET 1.1, 2.0, and 3 installed is the Welcome page with the message, "Could not connect to Retrospect. Retrospect either is not running or otherwise unreachable."
Mayoff
Check add and remove programs and make sure that the UIR installed is the 7.7 version. If needed, uninstall it from Windows and then use the Install UIR option inside Retrospect. if you are accessing UIR on local host, “localhost†as the address in browser on 2008 will not work. You must try to browse to 127.0.0.1 instead.
rlshew
Thanks, Mayoff. Before I saw your reply, thinking that something went wrong with my Retrospect 7.7 installation process, I removed it from the Server 2008 "Programs and Features" control panel and reinstalled. Now UIR appears in "Programs and Features." I think what might have happened earlier is installing the 7.7 over 7.6 didn't link components correctly. 7.6 should have been removed first. To make UIR work for clients, I installed IIS 6 in addition to IIS 7, following a tip you gave to a Windows 7 user at another thread. After entering configuration information in Server Manager for the web site, pointing the server's web site to C:\inetpub\myrestore\myrestore, clients can now restore files using their browsers.
