databuzz
Hi, I've just upgraded from v7.6 to Professional v7.7 and are doing my first backup. In the preferences I have it set to notify me for both options (failure/media events and successful events). I've just noticed that I'm getting a lot more email notifications since installing v7.7 that I was previously under v7.6 and can't see a way to turn these off. For example I just got the following 3 email that I never used to get previously: Retrospect notification from DELL-VOSTRO (14/01/2010) Date: 14/01/2010 + Retrospect version 7.7.203 Launched at 14/01/2010 1:08 AM ----- Retrospect notification from DELL-VOSTRO (14/01/2010) Date: 14/01/2010 Drive "Exabyte VXA DC, ID 3:11:0" was cleaned ----- Retrospect notification from DELL-VOSTRO (14/01/2010) Date: 14/01/2010 Exit at 14/01/2010 1:10 AM ---- It seems like there are many more events that it notifies in v7.7 and there doesn't appear to be away to selectively disable these. Can someone from EMC confirm that there have been changes to email notifications in v7.7 and if there is a way to configure exactly which notifications I now receive or have it perform in the same way as v7.6 which I was very happy with. I really don't need an email every time Retrospect launches, exits and cleans the tape but do want it for successful backups and other errors. Mayoff
Yes, email notification may have a few additional events. Cleaning has always been included though
clogsdon
I just upgraded from 7.0 to 7.7. The new email notifications for simply starting and stopping Retrospect are useless and annoying. Are there any plans to give us some flexibility is selecting which events we want to be notified about?
