kerryd
I'm wondering if a backup that is say a month long can be saved for future use should you need it before it recycles. Is it possible to say zip the folder as an archive and then go back to it should you need a file there. The reason I ask is I implemented a 7 day rotational backup of the home folder and as I suspected it writes to each media set the whole of the backup. This uses a ton of space. The only reason I'm doing this is so that I can go back in time to get a historical backup. Once you recycle, you start from scratch and have lost any history to files. I'm trying to figure out an efficient way to maintain a history of backups to files of at least a week old.
kerryd
Realized that I don't need to. The groom option is exactly what I was looking for so that I don't need to recycle. I set it for 14 days so I'll be able to go 14 days back. I won't need to do a rotational backup either which uses a ton of disk space.
