replacing a hard drive that i am backing up dups files in the backup set

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just replaced a hard disk that i back up nightly. It went bad so I replaced it and was able to get the orginal files off the bad disk and onto the new one.

Now, when Retrospect Windows 7.6 went to backup the replaced drive, it backed up fresh all the files on it. Why can't Retrospect simply see thes are the same files, and not reback them up? For some reason it wants to copy them again to the backup set. Why??? Surely it's intelligent enough to see thes files already in the backup set?

This forces me to do a recycle, as the backup drive won't hold all the files duped. So I lose time and i lose backup history.

What is happening here??

Is there a way to fix this.

Thanks!
