bseibert
Should we upgrade our hardware to achieve faster performance? We are running Retrospect 5 on a PowerPC 132 Mhz with 64MB RAM. Our network cabling is 10/100 Ethernet and we could upgrade to all 100 Ethernet from client to server. Where is the bottleneck?
ChrisYip
First off might be RAM - what OS are you running under - 9.x? Second - what are you backing up to? - Depending on your device, you will get varying levels of performance - I know that when I moved from DAT to VXA, I got a big boost in speed. Today I ran a File Backup Set and was getting 300 - 400 + MB / min over a 100 BaseT network connection (G4/533 OS X server w/ 1 GB RAM to a G4/800 TiBook w/ 512 MB RAM (OS X) ..
