bjhinkle
I had the Server/Multi server 5.6 version of retrospect. I was in the process of changing to better software for my backups. When Dantz came out with version 6 I called to see what the price would be and what options I would have. The rep I talked to said "Oh yeah you will receive every add on available upgrading from the sever version." So I thought I can spend 1000.00 and move to another software or stick with retrospect and only pay 600.00 for upgrade and all add ons. I have had problems with this software from the beginning, and since they decided to start charging for geek support I was hesitant to upgrade. But, stupid me I thought I would go ahead. Well after upgrading I looked in the license manager and noticed that I was not licesed for open files. So, I call a rep. She puts me on hold then comes back and says that the option was extra and that it may have came with the upgrade at one time but does not now????????????? Ok, I called less that a week ago. So, since I called you decide to stop including the open file add on. Well, she gave me a discount price (whooopeeee). I still would have been better off going with another back up software that dantz retrospect. So beware potential buyers and upgraders. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me I guess. AmyJ
I apologize if the information you received was misleading, or in this case, incorrect. Open File backup was never included in the upgrade pricing. Our upgrade pricing structure was designed to allow existing customers to keep functionality they had with Retrospect 5.6 and earlier - such as Disaster Recovery and Proactive Client Backup (formerly Backup Server). Because these features are now additional purchases, we didn't want loyal customers to lose functionality by moving forward with our product. Open File Backup, however, is a brand new product and not included in the upgrade pricing model.
