anothersmurf
In the latest release of Retrospect 8, the Restore Assistant's "Restore Summary" page has a "Preview..." button. But nothing happens when I click that button.
Mayoff
Is this 8.0 or 8.1? What OS version is the console running on? What OS version is the engine running on? What type of Macintosh for the engine and console?
anothersmurf
Retrospect 8.1 (build 148). Console and engine are on the same computer, a mini (2GHz core 2 duo with 4GB RAM) running OS 10.5.
Mayoff
Have you tried selecting a different media set or different prior backup? Do you get the "accessing..." screen? What exact restore steps are you using? I tried to reproduce the problem but it seems to be working for me.
anothersmurf
I'll walk you through exactly what I'm doing; if it'd be helpful, I could probably record a movie of this and send it to you, which would really let you follow along, or I could provide screenshots for each step... 1. I click on the Restore button at the upper left corner. 2. I choose "Restore selected files and folders" and hit Continue. 3. I'm presented with "Where do you want to restore from?" and a list of the four backups I've performed so far. I click the radio button beside the first (recentmost) and hit Continue. 4. I choose to restore to the machine which Console/Engine is running on, check the "Restore to a new folder" checkbox, and Continue. 5. The Restore Summary page is displayed. It says: "Restoring files from [source] at [date/time] to a new folder on [HD]". Clicking on the Preview button does nothing. If I click Start Now, the restore operation proceeds as expected. It makes no difference if I choose a different backup set to restore from (Step 3), or if I choose a different location to restore to, or if I uncheck the "Restore to a new folder" checkbox (Step 4). (Well, if I uncheck the box then I'm asked about overwriting, and an appropriate warming appears on the Restore Summary screen; but Preview still doesn't work.) I don't know what you mean by an Accessing screen, so I'm guessing that means I never get it. (If, in step 3, I click Browse to select particular files to restore, there's a little "Accessing backup" message that appears before I'm able to select files, but the Preview button doesn't work even if I select files.) I only have one media set, so I have not tried selecting a different media set. Thank you for taking the time to help troubleshoot this; let me know if I can help with more information. Maser
I can reproduce what you are seeing as well. Clicking on "Preview" does nothing at that point.
