Installing on Debian

Recommended Posts

I didn't make myself clear.... I'm looking to install the client on a Debian server. Yes, I understand that the only officially supported linux is Red Hat. I was hoping someone had gone through the install process manually and could offer insight into install the client on Debian.

Thanks,

Lem

i have running the retrospect client on two debian 3.0 boxes. from my memory i make the following steps

1. convert with the alien tool the .rpm to debian .deb

2. install the .deb with dpkg

3. run the postinstallation script

4. the postinstallation script is crying about missing directorys (/etc/rc.d/init.d ...)

5. make links from the redhat folder structure to the debian (/etc/rc.d/init.d to /etc/init.d an few more)

6. run the postinstallation script again

8. make the config

7. make links for automatic startup the retroclient in /etc/rc3.d/S99retroclient -> ../init.d/rcl
