kloda
We have Retrospect 5 running under Mac OS X 10.1.5. On our old server with Retrospect 4.3, we would be able to go through a 10 week cycle of backup tapes and never have the program request a second tape. Now, I come back from the weekend, the tape is ejected and Retrospect is requesting a new tape for that backup set. The tape does have data from before. How can I turn off this request and continue to use the current tape? How can I prevent this from happening again? Along the same line, would it be best to erase the tape and start new? How can I automate this? Thanks!
Guest
Retrospect continues writing to a tape until that tape fills up. Your tape filled up, so Retrospect requested a new tape to continue the backup. If you want to reset this tape, erasing the data that's currently on it and starting over, do a Recycle backup. In the future, you may want to script a Recycle backup in intermittently (once a month, perhaps) per backup set.
