CD drive not supported.

I am trying to use Retrospect 5.6.132 on a Dell GX-240 with Windows XP. The CD-RW drive is a Hitachi GCE-8080N so it says. It is not listed among the supported devices. I don't suppose anyone would know if there is a fix to make this work or if the drive might get supported in the future. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was planning on implementing this on all the computers that I support (approx. 170).

There is no workaround to using an unsupported drive with Retrospect 5.6.

 

 

 

Retrospect includes built-in recognition for many CD-RW drives. For drives that are not recognized, you can create a custom configuration with the current release, Retrospect 6.0.

 

 

 

Custom configurations are not qualified through Dantz's rigorous Hardware Certification process and therefore are not supported. After creating a custom configuration, you should perform a backup with verification turned on to ensure that Retrospect works properly with the device.
