Mayoff
You don't get any errors in the operations log? Did you try the option to require authentication?
phans
Error Log: SMTP: opening addr 192.168.1.240 (Mac OS X leopard server mailserver address) Tried with authentication, several different users.... Mayoff
You can stop the engine. Edit the retro.ini in the engine bundle. Change SetNetworkLogging= to 7 from 3 Start the engine and try again. The operations log will contain info reported by the mail server during the next test attempt

rhwalker
Yep. Your server is not doing SMTP AUTH, just straight SMTP. Don't use AUTH (username/password) for the email notification. I must say that the improved logging in Retrospect 8 is a great improvement over having to do SMTP chit chat via Telnet to figure out what is going wrong with email notification. phans
I left my username and password in the textfields, just toggled the checkbox, that was the problem, i had to leave this blank.. Thanks for your help, happy with this new version...
rhwalker
I'd consider that a bug - the checkbox should override. It was Robin's logging suggestion that enabled the problem to be spotted. Russ Edited March 24, 2009 by Guest
nuxx
I'm having trouble with email notifications too. Have tried the suggestions here using different port numbers with and without authentication. Each time the log shows; holuFinished: lookup() failed with error -530 soctPreDispose: maximum queue depth was 0 Any ideas?
