Lennart_T
Running Retrospect 7.6.123 with DU 7.6.2.101 on Windows 2003 Server. 2GB RAM, Intel Xeon dual core. The client runs Vista and the client is 7.6.106. This client is backed up to a Disk Backup Set. Scanning and backing up new/updated files is fine. It takes about the same amount of time as any other client. But it's the "Building snapshot" and "Closing" etc that takes an hour and 15 minutes, while similar client takes less than 15 minutes. This client does not have an excessive amount of files nor are they exceptionally large. There are client with more files that are backing up much faster. Why is this happening on this single client? Mayoff
What size snapshot does the log report?
Lennart_T
170,7 MB
Mayoff
That does sound big. How does it compare with other systems that backup faster? The snapshot would be bigger based on the total number of files, if permission backup is on and if the registry was really big.

Mayoff
Could that disk have heavy fragmentation? Could some anti-virus software be detecting the Retrospect operation so it starts scanning at the same time?
Lennart_T
I'll check for heavy fragmentation. Not likely an antivirus issue. We all have the same antivirus with the same settings, centrally controlled.
Lennart_T
Defragmented the drive during the weekend, but it didn't help. Duration: 01:24:50 (01:11:25 idle/loading/preparing) Any more ideas?
