It appears that Retrospect is quitting upon completion of a backup. When I relaunch Retrospect is shows that nothing needs to be backed up. However, because it crashes, I do not have confidence that my backup is accurate. I do not get a "completed" message in the log.

I have turned off ACLs

Retrospect info: ∆ Retrospect version 6.1.230

+ Retrospect Driver Update, version 6.1.15.101

Running on a Mac Dual 2GHz G5, OS 10.4.11

The default preference is for Retrospect to quit after running an automated backup. However, if your log is missing some information, that would indicate something is not right.

What kind of script are you running, what are the backup sources, and what kind of destination backup set are you using?

Have you tried performing a restore operation from this backup set, at least to the point where the files to be restored are listed? Do you see any problems at that point?

Could you also give us the full description from the log of the problematic backup operation?

Sorry I wasn't clearer. Retrospect crashes, it doesn't quit.

I'm not running a script, this is from backup in the "immediate" tab of retrospect.

I'm backing up from an external array to an AIT-2 drive and also to DVD on an internal optical drive. It functions identically with each media.

Here is the information from the log for my last attempt:

∆ Retrospect version 6.1.230

launched at 11/4/2008 2:40 PM

+ Retrospect Driver Update, version 6.1.15.101

+ Executing Immediate Backup at 11/4/2008 2:40 PM

To backup set Backup 2008…

That's it. I usually get something along the lines of:

10/10/2008 2:31:54 PM: Execution completed successfully.

Completed: 838 files, 2.6 GB

Performance: 290.0 MB/minute (268.9 copy, 314.6 compare)

Duration: 00:19:10 (00:01:16 idle/loading/preparing)

But I don't see this.
