amchoksi Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 I am using Retrospect 7.6 and am backing up My Pictures onto a separate external hard drive. The number of files is large about 27,458 about 60GB and my external hard drive has capacity of 80GB. I am using the Duplicate option with the “Replace Entire Volumeâ€. I have managed to get the first full duplicate done properly and then I have set it on a regular schedule. However once the Retrospect starts on the preset regular schedule and scans the source and destination disks, it keeps showing “preparing to execute†for hours. It seems to have been stuck. It does not undertake the Duplicate action. Why is this happening on the preset schedule after the first full duplicate is properly executed? What should I do to get this to work properly on a regular schedule? I would appreciate some guidance and help.
Mayoff Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Try turning off the option to duplicate open files. If the VSS services on the computer are not working, it could get stuck waiting for a status change from the operating system.
amchoksi Posted October 28, 2008 Author Report Posted October 28, 2008 Robin That does not seem to work. What else would you recomend? Also when I try and close down Retrospect after it gets stuck, it will not close down saying "one execution running". I have to close it down using Windows task manger and ending the task.
amchoksi Posted October 31, 2008 Author Report Posted October 31, 2008 Further to my problem above, I have discovered that the Duplicate function works the way it should if the computer is not switched off and then on. But if the computer ius restarted, that is when the problem above arises. Any suggestions?
