typhoon43
Just setup 7.6 in our DMZ and it's working great, except I get one error, thus one email every night. I'd love nothing more than having a nightly backup set with zero errors. I know how to exclude files, but I'm not quite sure how to exclude this service. Can someone throw me a bone? It is not running on the server, but it does have it installed for web testing.
Mayoff
If you don't want the email for an error, then turn off the email notification option. What is the one error you see?
typhoon43
Thanks for the reply Mayoff. Killing email messaging entirely just to not see that one error isn't exactly what I would consider a solution. It's nice to know when something goes wrong with our backups, so I'd prefer a workaround for this one error if possible.
typhoon43
Guess I'll just live with the message...
fackler
Wow, talk about miscommunication. Mayoff, the error typhoon was getting was in the title "Can't backup Certificate Services when it's not started". Now I am interested in the answer. One of my programmer's development VM is throwing this error. I have not been able to find out much about this on the web. Does the service create a file while it is on and then delete that file when it is turned off? Why does it need to be running for Retrospect to back it up? Mayoff
Retrospect is probably getting this error as a response to the MS API for backing up system state data. Check the Windows Event logs. It may have certificate services errors or more info about the backup failure.
