albo
Hi Folks, I'm trying to back up my computer (one drive only) with multi-server 7.6.111. I get 173,238 (!) execution errors during verification (a total of 275,080 were backed up). All the errors read "can't read: error -1001 (unknown Windows OS error)". Even for those files which show errors like this, I'm still able to restore them. Any idea what's going on here? Looks like the backup is happening properly, just some issues with verification. The verification is set to "full", and the backup is being stored compressed with DES encryption. I'm using Windows Pro XP SP3. Thanks, Allie
Mayoff
Does the log make any reference to security information not being read correctly? Have you tried to restart the computer and try again? Have you run any disk utilities to check the drive for problems?
albo
Hi there, Thanks for the reply. There's no info about security info not being read correctly. I ran a "verify" on the backup set, and there were no errors or anything like that - the execution completed successfully for 449,809 files. Does that mean everything is ok? I tried restoring a file which was flagged with the -1001 error, and it restored just fine. Thoughts? Should I redo the entire backup just to be sure anyway? If I do an incremental backup now, with full verification selected, will it compare all the files in the snapshot, even the ones physically backed up earlier? Thanks, Allie Edited October 6, 2008 by Guest
Mayoff
WIthout seeing your entire log, I don't know for sure what is happening. Maybe do another backup for safety.
albo
ok, will do. Should I do an incremental with a full compare, or go ahead and wipe the backup drive and redo the full backup? thanks, allie
Mayoff
Incremental backup with verify should be okay
