Elizabeth Rock
During my last backup the process hung up (spinning ball) and then stopped. Got the -24205 message: Couldn't open catalog (name), error -24205 (chunk file damaged during save) I tried repairing the catalog, but got the same error message. Can this be saved? Will I need to trash this catalog and start over?
Mayoff
The catalog is damaged. You need to do a catalog rebuild, not just a repair. What type of backup set are you using?
Elizabeth Rock
Normal, no recycle, no compression.

CallMeDave
Backup Sets exist in various Types, such as Tape, Internet, CD/DVD, etc. Robin's question remains unanswered. Dave
Elizabeth Rock
Sorry. I back up to an external HD.
CallMeDave
I back up to an external HD But that still doesn't detail what Type of Backup Set you are using. On the Macintosh version of Retrospect, there are two Types of Backup Sets that can store data on an external HD: File Backup Sets and Removable Disk Backup Sets.
