hotdog
Hi. Until recently I admin a small (wireless) network of XP based PCs and backed up with version 7.0 (originally 6.5) with no problems whatsoever for some years. In August I added our first Vista based PC and because of its high spec I decided to move from backing-up to DVD to using an external hard drive on the new PC. I also decided to upgrade to version 7.6 of Retrospect and migrated the existing software to the Vista PC. I installed the 7.6 clients on the XP machines, etc and 7.6 sees the various XP machines, their drives, files etc. So far so good. Start the backup (on the Vista PC) for any of the XP PCs and the scan of drives proceeds normally (albeit a bit slowly) and then the backup itself commences. In every case I am attempting to backup the entire PC. Every backup fails with error 519 (network communications failure). This occurs randomly .. sometimes within seconds of backup start, other times hours into the run. Backup of the Vista PC itself is error-free. Any Ideas please? Mayoff
I would start by checking the Firewall on the XP systems and the Vista computer. The new client may not be recognized by your firewalls. Can an XP system backup another XP system? If so, then the Vista computer is probably the issue. blm14
I've found sometimes that the only way to correct the -519 error is to "forget" the client from the server list, UNINSTALL the client software (from the client, locally), reboot the client, reinstall the client software, and re-add it to the server...
