Retrospect crashes when 102,000 files reached

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm running Retrospect 6.1.230 on OS X Server 10.5.4 and noticed that the logs showed Retrospect launching to back up files but nothing was being written.

I tried manually backing up files from the same disc and it quits around 102,000 files scanned.

I can get it to work if I limit the number of files to back up by creating sub volumes and limiting the areas.

Is there a limit for a single scan?

Thanks, Alan.

Not documented, but it's been suggested here that around a million files is where problems might start. One hundred two thousand is not too much for the program to handle.

This is the bare minimum of information about your hardware and software configuration. A more detailed description of what you're doing, what you're using, and what you are seeing would be helpful.
