apolonio
I am using Retrospect Backup Workgroup 6.1.126 on an OSX Server running 10.2.8. I have recently replaced a hard drive on a Mac mini. The problem is the server won't recognize the mini. I have reinstalled and updated the Retrospect Client application for the mini. Retrospect on the server will give me an error message 525 since it doesn't recognize the client. I tried adding the client back by IP address but I will just get the 525 (name/log in). It won't let me Configure the client because I will just get the 525 error. It won't also let me forget the client name from the network or delete it from the database. Don't know how to fix this problem.
rhwalker
There's a compatibility issue between client and the Retrospect app. The current Retrospect app can recognize new and old clients, but the old app can't recognize new clients. When you updated the client on the mini but didn't update Retrospect app, you got into this situation. Update Retrospect app and you should be OK. It's a free update. Download is here: Retrospect 6.1.230 update You might want to get the Retrospect Driver Update (RDU) 6.1.15.101 too. Same place. rhwalker
I am glad that you were successful. This is a recurring problem that could easily be solved by proper documentation, if EMC would so choose. There is no mention on the update page or in the release notes for the client about this incompatibility. A simple (and prominent) warning about this incompatibility would solve many problems that users are having and are continuing to report in these forums.
