GSI_APPS
Having an issue with RetroSpec 7.6.1.101 crashing with an access violation. The backup server's configurations is: Windows XP Pro SP3, 2GB mem, 2x 750GB HDD configured as RAID Stripe 0 also has a separate boot drive. The Server was backing up normally with out errors until upgraded from 7.0 to 7.6. The upgrade was necessary in order to back up Vista 32 and Vista 64 computers. The error reported in the assert_log.utx file is, trimmed of course: OS: Windows XP version 5.1 (build 2600), Service Pack 3, (32 bit) Application: C:\Program Files\Retrospect\Retrospect 7.6\Retrospect.exe, version 7.6.111 Driver Update and Hot Fix version 7.6.1.101 Exception occurred on 8/28/2008 at 11:30:23 PM Exception code: c0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION Fault address: 61327255 0001:00026255 (null) The error cause RetroSpec to crash in the middle of a backup and require a catalog repair. The error does not occur every time a backup is performed. The crash is random in the sense that not one client is consistently causing the crash. The crash is not isolated to any particular OS version, I have seen RetroSpec crash while backing up Windows XP, Vista 32 or Vista 64. I am guessing the crash is a problem on the server side, correct? I could not find any related issues in the forum. Anyone have any ideas of a fix or what the problem might be related to? Mayoff
It does not sound like a source problem. Do you see this with multiple backup sets?
GSI_APPS
Yes, I seen it on both the backup sets. One is used for incremental backups and one the other is for monthly backups that are copied to tapes for off site storage. Both have experienced the crash.
