I don't know whether the error 206 problems I've been experiencing with my Matshita 7121 CD (the default one with a Graphite 600mhz imac) have been fixed, but a new problem has been introduced with the update. Any pre-2.8 CD I've backed up to have been marked as 'incompatible' every time I try to restore from them!!! I simply moved the 2.8 update out of the folder and they work fine. ChuckS Posted August 7, 2002 Report Share Posted August 7, 2002 RDU 2.8 fundamentally changes the way Retrospect operates that device. When code changes are made to Retrospect drivers to fix issues, as was the case with the 7121, these kinds of side effects are not uncommon. As you mention, the files are certainly recoverable if the RDU is removed. Ultimately, you should create a new backup set with new media. If there are files in the old set you feel you are likely to need, I suggest restoring them without the RDU present, then backing them up to your new set. I need to re-backup all my client archives now, just so they're compatible with this new driver. I hope this doesn't happen too frequently.
