nickbarnes67
I was in the process of rebuilding a set from tapes (19 tapes) and the power went out. When I returned to retrospect to continue with tape 16, it asks for tape 17. There is only a few mb of tape 16 rebuilt. So, is there a way for me to go back and start the tape 16 over or do I have to start the whole rebuild over? Thanks.
Mayoff
Not really. Once it asks for the next tape, you can't go back.
twickland
When I returned to retrospect to continue with tape 16, it asks for tape 17. What exactly do you mean by "returned to Retrospect?" In general, when you already have a partial catalog, you would add to the catalog by using the repair tool "Update existing catalog file" rather than "Rebuild catalog from tapes." Is that what you've tried?
nickbarnes67
Opened retrospect and went to update existing catalog file. When the computer went down it was in the middle of tape 16.

Does this mean that I need to start over with my rebuild from tapes? Have I lost all the info on tape 16 or if I start a new rebuild with tape one will I be able to retrieve the info on 16? Mayoff
Yes, you need to start the rebuild again from tape 1. Your data should still be on the tape 16.
