DaveyBear
Using Retrospect HD Express for windows 2.0.214 In Vista Home Premium 32 bit... Which executable initiates the backup process once all the preferences are set? I went into program files >retrospect and attempted to start a backup by opening the executables listed but nothing seemed to happen. I need this to set up a scheduled task so that Vista will wake up when it is time for a backup.

DaveyBear
Retrospect is supposed to be compatable with Vista. If so, how do I set it up to operate with task scheduler. This post has been up for quite a while, and has been given a lot of blank stares, but I would like help with this. If it is not possible, please say so. Mayoff
If you don't want to use the built in schedule feature in Express HD and you require using the WIndows task scheduler, then you can't use Express HD. You will need to upgrade to Retrospect. You can then create a run document and schedule Windows to launch the run document.

Mayoff, thanks for the reply...at least now I know that HD is not compatable with all aspects of Vista. It's not that I don't want to use the internal scheduler in Retrospect. It's just that I want it to run at night when the computer is not in use, and I choose not to leave the computer at full power all night to accomplish this. Mayoff
I would not say the software is not compatible with all aspects of Vista. This is just not a feature offered in the product. This is why we offer more advanced features in the more advanced products.
DaveyBear
Work-around to this issue posted for the benefit of anyone who does a search on this subject. A. Set up Windows task scheduler to wake the computer and perform a simple task, such as display a message on the desktop. B. Make certain that you have set your power options to not allow sleep to resume for a while. C. Schedule Retrospect HD to perform a backup a few minutes after task scheduler wakes up the computer. Note that this was unsuccessful on an account that is password protected. Task scheduler is supposed to have this functionality, but it wouldn't work for me. Not very elegant, but it works.
