murdocj
I kept getting a message from Windows Firewall saying that Retrospect Express HD wants to accept incoming connections. I was leaving it blocked but it looks like my last automatic backup didn't run so I finally gave in and unblocked it, but this makes me uncomfortable. Anyone know why it wants to accept incoming connections, or whether blocking it actually causes problems?
Mayoff
You need to allow this activity so that Microsoft.net will work correctly. http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=7927&p=
murdocj
Thanks for the information. What's odd is that Retrospect ran fine for a couple of months w/o giving me the message. But at least this makes some sense, I couldn't imagine why it would need to accept remote connections to do a backup. I did go into Windows firewall and changed the setting so it would only accept loopback connections. Edited May 28, 2008 by Guest
