Fulco
What is the easiest way to transfer all 'Disk Backup Sets' to a larger new Harddisk?
MRIS
Here are two ways, you choose which is the easiest: First Way 1. Use Windows Explorer to move the folder from the source disk to the new disk. eg move this folder: D:\Retrospect to E:\Retrospect 2. Next, use Tools --> Repair Catalog --> Recreate from disks, choose All DISKS, then browse to and select the E:\ drive, click OK, it will display a list of backup sets, choose the first one, click OK, then answer NO that there are no more disks. It will then say "there is already a known backup set named xxxx. Recreate catalog file anyway, forgetting existing one? click OK, then save, then confirm the file replace. 3. Repeat step 2 for the other disk backup sets. 4. Open each script and add the appropriate backup set as the target, since step 2 will strip the backup sets from the scripts. The drawback of this technique is that you will need to update each script. Second Way: 1. Create a new disk backup set for each of the old backup sets, but on the new disk. 2. Perform a transfer backup sets operation between the old and the new sets. 3. If desired, remove the old sets, by first recycling then forgetting them. 4. Open each script and add the appropriate new backup set as the target, and remove the old sets if you skipped step 3. The drawback of this technique is that you still need to update each script.
