ken walrod
I need to make copies of my backup VXA tapes for storage offsite. Does anyone know how I can do That? I'm running Retrospect version 6.1.131 on a Mac Xserve and using a Exabyte VXA 2 packetloader. Do I need to get other software or can I use Retrospect? Thanks Ken
Mayoff
Do you have 2 tape drives? The only way to copy tapes (backup set transfer) in Retrospect is with 2 tape drives.
ken walrod
Yes I do have 2 drives. Transfer seems to want to dupe the backup sets, will it also create a backup tape?
rhwalker
Yes I do have 2 drives. Transfer seems to want to dupe the backup sets, will it also create a backup tape? Well, yes and no. It will insist on transferring from one backup set to the other. Just create another backup set with the second drive's tape as its member, transfer from the existing (tape) backup set to the second drive's erased tape. The tape, of course, will have a different header (member name) because it's not a copy of the first tape, but a transfer from one backup set to another. Clear?
