Retro 6.1.138 on Leopard won't recognize FW member

Recommended Posts

I have a backup of my laptop hard drive that I performed using Retrospect Express 6.0 to an Acomdata FW/USB drive (which came with Retro Express). I've since upgraded to Retrospect 6.1.138 (non-Express).

When trying to restore my volume, Retrospect does not recognize the FW drive as a valid member of my backup set (asking "where is 1-MB Pro?"), even though it is mounted to the desktop. Retrospect recognizes mounted USB flash devices and even mounted disc images, but I can't access my backed-up data.

I tried a test backup _to_ the FW drive, and Retrospect again couldn't find the drive and wouldn't recognize it as a backup member. Looking through the volume database, however, Retrospect _does_ identify the FW drive and even names it as a backup set member (under attributes).

Am I missing something in Retro 6.1.138? Am I facing incompatibility issues between Express and the full application? I kinda need my hard disk back. Fast.

Retrospect will only use fixed-platter hard drives in a Removable Disk Backup Set if you configure the preferences appropriately.

Look under Special->Preferences->Media Handling->"Use hard drives as removable disks"
