We just got a New G4 Server X and Retrospect 5.0 for workgroups.

I did the update for Retrospect. Now my problem is that we are using the old tape backup. Each tape holds 12 GB and the data to backup is about 50 gb. So in the middle of the night the tape backup wants another tape and of course no one is here. What are some suggestions? Can I hang other tape backup on this one and will retrospect to another drive? Do I have to purchase a multiple tape drive?

Next problem. I can't see all the clients when I am trying to set them up. It sees 4 of the 10 people here. The Client software has been installed on everyones computer.

any help will be greatly appreicated!!!!

1. Well, it sounds like you need two tape drives, or an autoloader with two drives in it. Retrospect can go from one tape drive to another automatically. (unattended).

2. Do the 6 clients that Retrospect can't see, do they have 2 NICs? Are they in other subnets?

Thank you - I will ask for another tape drive - Didn't know if I could do that or have to get an autoloader with several tapes.

I don't know about the 2 NICs or subnets - I didn't setup this network - Someone else setup the server and when every thing crashed they called me. They are using Server X with a Mac G4. Retrospect sees one Mac on line and the 3 PCs but not the other 6 Macs. Client is installed on all the Macs.

On the Network that I do work on - The 3 PCs and 6 Macs are right there when I go to the tcp/ip and windows networking. I installed the Client on these computers. The only problem that I am having with this network is that Retrospect 5.0 doesn't like 6.3.3 ASIP and locks up all the time. But that is another story.
