DWitteried
I finally got a sytem that can run Vista so I thought I would give it a try. Anyway, I keep getting a message that the Retrospect Launcher Service is not running. I can't find it in the Vista Services manager. I understand the launcher is needed to schedul automatic backups and to set Retrospect to use another account to run under. Since Vista has been out for a year now I am surprised these issues haven't been resolved, or is it just my system? Thanks, David
Mayoff
How about telling us what version of Retrospect you are using?
DWitteried
Sorry, I have 7.5.324 with hotfix 7.5.6.105. Every time I launch Retrospect under Vista I get a warning that "Retrospect requires administrator privalages for backup." This happens even though my account is an administrator account! Retrospect is configured to run as the logged in user.
Mayoff
That version is not vista compatible. You need to update to the latest version. You will need to uninstall this version before updating to the latest version .
DWitteried
Oh yea... I read a thred about the Ring 0 situation so you don't need to describe why Retrospect STILL doesn't work 1 year after Vista was released to the public... and maybe another year of beta availabilty! DWitteried
Ok... where can I get that update. I can't even find a working web page with Retrospect listed on EMC's web site!
Mayoff
David, I have no idea what the "ring 0 situation" is you talk about. Retrospect IS fully compatible with Vista, but you have failed to download and install the latest version. Until you are running a current version, I don't see how you can say EMC hasn't kept up with vista.
DWitteried
Ok... I will try to find the update. The autoupdate feature in Retrospect is not showing the one you mention. I will work on it. Search Google for ( "retrospect launcher service" + vista ). It is the only hit you will get. Thanks for the info on the update. Hope the web site comes back up soon.
