Norm
This is a beginner type question on backups and duplicates over a LAN. Thanks for help on my other post. As you can tell from that, I'm no expert.... I have hard drives attached to my PB G4 Mac running Tiger OS X 10.4.10. I'm running Retrospect 6.1.126 and while I don't recall installing it separately it indicates the Client on my wife's Mac is 6.1.130. My wife is running Leopard. At any rate, I backup and duplicate both my Mac and my wife's Mac. For my wife's Mac, we are on what I guess is called an ethernet LAN. At the suggestion from this forum, I will update to the latest Retrospect (6.1.138 I believe). What I don't understand is that there are some Knowledge Based articles on NAS volumes and AppleShare volumes. Do I need to get involved and try to understand what that is all about or..... Can I just install the updated Retrospect and I assume it will then provide an updated Client which I'll install on my wife's Mac. Can I do that, leave my scripts as is and go? Again, thanks for the help with what is probably a very basic issue.
CallMeDave
Quote: What I don't understand is that there are some Knowledge Based articles on NAS volumes and AppleShare volumes. Do I need to get involved and try to understand what that is all about There are Knowledge Base articles on tape auto-loader robotics, on bar coding, on assertion check errors, on lots and lots of things. Why do you ask specifically about NAS and AFP volumes? Are they part of your backup/duplicate configuration? > Can I just install the updated Retrospect and I assume it will then provide an updated Client ... 6.1.130 is the most current client build. Only the application update is required for the Leopard specific fixes. Dave
Norm
Can't recall the exact steps but a link took me there when I was trying to figure out if I can/should update with my Mac on Tiger and my wife's (the one I back up over our LAN) on Leopard. So that is why. Guess I shouldn't have asked such a question. But appreciate the help.
