mrose6709
I'm a home user of 7.5. Should I backup my catalog files? They take up so much room on my backup disk. Do I need them backed up for a restore?
rhwalker
It's your choice. Without the catalog file, you can't browse or restore from the backup set. You can always re-create the catalog file, but it might take many, many hours, depending on the size of your backup set and the number of files in it. It's all a question of how fast you might need a restored file, and the time to find it out of all of your backups. That's part of your backup policy, which should be designed to suit your particular needs. You might want to review some of the issues here: What should a good backup policy address? russ
