Retrospect accesses each client one at a time. Is there a way to make Retrospect look ahead to other clients while it is working on the current one? We back up clients to one tape and have so much Retrospect overhead while it is making snapshots etc. We have a Dell Poweredge 1900 with an Ultrium3 tape drive, 1G Ethernet. We are using Retrospect 7.5. Just updated the retrospect driver today 24jan08.

Thanks in advance.

If you want Retrospect to access multiple clients at the same time during a backup, you need to have 2 tape drives. This will allow you to run 2 backups at the same time.

You can also do backup to multiple hard disks at the same time.

You would put 1/2 of your users in one script and 1/2 in a different script. Each script would have it's own destination pointing to it's own backup set/device.
