rroales Posted January 19, 2008 Report Share Posted January 19, 2008 About six days ago, I noticed that it is taking a very long time to back up 15 - 37 GB of data on a Vista machine. Client machines running Xp Sp2 are backing up normally. Only the Vista machine has this problem. Upon inspection of the log, I noticed that the snapshot phase is the cause. This happened suddenly and for no apparent reason. I am running Retrospect Pro 7.5.387 with driver update & hotfix 7.5.13.100 (both have been runng well before the issue started). I have uninstalled and reinstalled Retrospect; rolled back the system state to date prior to the problem starting with no effect on the length of time. Even a 10GB progressive backup takes 2 - 3 hours to complete and it is always due to the increased snapshot phase time. Any ideas? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This month's Tuesday patches, and your number of files could have increased to the point where you have pushed it over the edge. rroales Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 It ran fine for a week after MS Tuesday. The number of files has actually decreased because I archived some files. I am going to upgrade to 3Gb as Vista Business 32 maxes memory at 4 GB and the system may only actually "read" 3.5Gb. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
