bspachman
Hi all! I'm creating a selector to backup some of my video files. It's going ok, but I have one subdirectory that has a complicated folder structure that I would like to make sure is backed up. The catch is that all of the folders are empty--it's just structure. However, this subdirectory doesn't show up as selected for backup when I check the selector. Here's the problematic part of the selector structure: Code: INCLUDE files matching-- - Folder name exactly matches Video EXCLUDE files matching-- - Folder name exactly matches Movies AND - Folder name NOT selected if it exactly matches Compressed AND - Folder name NOT selected if it exactly matches LOST IN CRASH ...and so on. In all lines, "Include Enclosed Folders" is checked. The problematic directory is 'Video/Movies/LOST IN CRASH'. As written above, the 'Video/Movies' folder shows that it will be properly NOT backed up, and the 'Video/Movies/Compressed' folder shows that it WILL be properly backed up. The folder 'Video/Movies/LOST IN CRASH' incorrectly shows that it will NOT be backed up. Any guessing as to whether the 'LOST IN CRASH' directory will be backed up? Thanks! brad
bspachman
<bump> Running a backup with this selector and then examining the sessions contents gave the (unfortunately) expected result. As seen when I check the selector, the 'LOST IN CRASH' directory hierarchy is nowhere to be found. Any ideas? Brad

Mayoff
Empty folders are never backed up. They are tracked by the snapshot process. http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=6470&p=
bspachman
Gotcha! Thanks so much. I hadn't thought of searching the knowledgebase for restore issues because (hopefully) I'll never have to restore anything... Very good to know that the entire directory structure is stored within the snapshot. Thanks again, Brad
