William999
When the user backs up over the internet to an ftp site, are the data encryted in transit over the Internet? I know that the data backup file is encryted on the ftp server (when one creates the backup set with an encryption option selected), but are the data and password encrypted during the back up of the local computer to the remote ftp site over the Internet? Yes and no. ftp does not provide encrypted passwords, so those go clear text. The data that is sent, however, is encrypted on the Mac before it is transfered to the server.
