TonyQ
Hi. I'm running an Imac with Leopard 10.5.1. I just installed Retrospect 6.1.138. I'm trying to do a simple back up of some data on my startup drive. When I open up the Volume Selection window under immediate backup, I select my startup drive then click subvolume. Bam, Retrospect disappears . . . instant crash. If I select the whole volume then click preview to select some files Retrospect again crashes instantly. Please note, this only happens with the startup volume, other volumes work fine. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. -Tony
CallMeDave
Hmmm - Does the same thing happen if you go to Configure->Volumes ? - What flavor of iMac? G4, G5 or CoreDuo ? I'd suggest that you run, don't walk, to boot your iMac from the Leopard DVD and run Disk Utilities to check the boot disk. Dave
rhwalker
I wonder if ACLs are enabled for the startup volume. What happens if you uncheck the Retrospect pref to back up ACLs?
TonyQ
Wow! Thanks for the speedy responses! I sincerely appreciate your help. My iMac is a core duo running 10.5.1. I did a reinstall of the Leopard OS to no avail. Then I read RH's suggestion to turn the ACL prefs off. That did the trick. Thanks guys, you're both lifesavers. The sad thing is that I read the official Retrospect document saying that if you are having this problem you should upgrade your system to 10.5! Live and learn, Thank You, Tony
