satcomguy Posted January 2, 2008 Report Share Posted January 2, 2008 After several months of no-go saves w retrospect express hd and a maxtor ext hd, I wondered if I'd ever get to the bottom of the problem. I tried sw reloads several times, tested internal (incl a raid-0) and external disks -- all to no avail. Spent much of 1 Jan troubleshooting. Yes new years day '08, instead of drinking beer and watching rose bowl parade and football. Finally, I noticed elsewhere on this forum someone (Rich, I think) observed life was better with USB than firewire. Not a hw or sw problem at all, but a comm problem? Ahhh - the sweet feeling of being on to something. A brief cable change and voila! suddenly the displays remembered their proper ways and maxtor lights blinked like a fond memory. Thanks folks!
