Backup failure since updating to Mac OS X 10.4.11 and Retrospect 6.1.138

Recommended Posts

I have been using Retrospect for years, most recently under Mac OS X 10.4.9.

Recently I updated to Mac OS X 10.4.11 and Retrospect 6.1.138 with Driver Update version 6.1.12.101.

I have a G4 Quicksilver with the Pioneer DVD-RW model DVR-103 and firmware RDI (5.12).

I use Verbatim DVD-R disks for the media.

All of this was working just fine but now I am getting Error 100 device rejected command.

Below is a copy of the relevant section of the Retrospect log.

As you can see I even did a Configure of the drive just in case and you can see it's using write method 1.

I've no idea where to look for the specific command that was rejected sine the log does not appear in the Apple log files.

Does anyone have suggestions/ideas on why this is happening and what to do?

TIA and respect....

Peter

What RDU were you using when it was working? You should probably fall back to that one; newer RDUs have been problematic for many posters here.

As a side note, Retrospect performs much better with DVD+R media then it does with DVD-R.

Thanks very much Dave for your suggestion.

I went back to RDU 6.1.5.102 and it seems to be working now.

This is the first time I have had any problem with Retrospect,

going back to the first days of using it when it came out.

So I can't complain I guess.

Although I admit being disappointed. I wonder if this would have

happened when Larry and his brother owned the company. Sigh. Oh well.

I have some DVD+R media but my Pioneer is the original one

Apple shipped in my G4 and only does DVD-R.

After MWSF I plan to get a new desktop, assuming the Penryn chip,

and send the G4/867 out to pasture as a streaming server.

Thanks again and

respect....

Peter
