mleffler
I tried to do another backup using Retrospect Express 6.0.222 on a Dell running Windows XP Pro with SP2. I've had no problems before. No viruses according to Norton. Can someone help? Why should I get this message? I have no trouble reading files on my primary hard drive, drive C. Thanks. lindahardesty
Was this an automated backup or manual?

lindahardesty
Look carefully at all the available volumes when you are selecting the volume for backup. There may be two drive c:'s - one that is available and one that is not. Try "forgetting" drive c:, then let Retrospect find available volumes again. mleffler
Excellent!! Thank you!! That was it. Even though I'm an experienced computer user, some of the Retrospect Express interface and approach is a bit confusing. How did you get started? Is there a PDF that explains the orientation of this product? Thanks again. Mark
lindahardesty
I find it difficult, too. I think the interface could be improved a lot. For example, I got tricked into thinking I couldn't start a restore process, because the one I had already started was hidden behind that bland front window with the three options. Infinite patience and dogged persistence are my best suggestions. Also, try doing small test backups and restores when you are having a problem. The time it takes to do a full backup and restore is adds to the difficulty in learning the product.
