Recurring problem with COM+ and VSS

I do a Retrospect normal backup every day. About once a month, my backup jobs are unable to perform open file backup. At such times I get two messages back-to-back in my Windows Event Log, as follows:

 

The COM+ Event System failed to fire the RequestWriterInfo method on subscription {BEBD3CAF-D349-43DD-82CF-789680288EFF}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}. The subscriber returned HRESULT 8002801D.

 

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: An internal inconsistency was detected in trying to contact shadow copy service writers. Please check to see that the Event Service and Volume Shadow Copy Service are operating properly.

 

Then the Retrospect errors appear in the Windows Event Log, such as

 

Can't use Open File Backup option for WDRAID 1 (C:), error -1017 (insufficient permissionsb

 

I suppose that this is a Windows problem as much as it is a Retrospect problem. But it is definitely spoiling my enjoyment of Retrospect. Any suggestions?
