fjean
I maybe stupid but I don't understand how selector works. Here is the selector I create Include everything but always exclude file matching name of folders end with _nbkp, selecting all enclosed items Here are an example of the folders that I take in backup: c:\users c:\users\output_nbkp c:\users\sandboxes c:\users\sandboxes\maintrunk c:\users\sandboxes\maintrunk\output_nbkp c:\users\sandboxes\maintrunk\output_nbkp\win32 c:\users\sandboxes\maintrunk\output_nbkp\win32\Debug c:\users\sandboxes\maintrunk\output_nbkp\win32\Debug\bin etc... The folders c:\user\output_nbkp is not on the backup ! Excellent, that's what I want. But Why c:\users\sandboxes\maintrunk\output_nbkp and a lot of what is under it is on the backup ? And why c:\sandboxes\maintrunk\output_nbkp\win32\Debug\bin\xerces-c_2_7.dll is on the backup et c:\sandboxes\maintrunk\output_nbkp\win32\Debug\bin\xerces-c_2_7D.dll is not on the backup Help someone !! thanks Retrospect is install on windows server 2003 and the workstations use windows xp pro or Vista
buachille
well this is the way i do it. create your selector go to windows fat/ntfs section and select path. than paste in the path c:\users make sure the folder box is ticked and not the file one, and tick include enclosed folders. then just keep creating conditions for all these folders. like so: if you think your main drive letter might change in the future (i know mine has often enough), the just leave out the C:\ at the start. so select path again, and you could type: ------------------------------------------- users users\output_nbkp users\sandboxes users\sandboxes\maintrunk users\sandboxes\maintrunk\output_nbkp users\sandboxes\maintrunk\output_nbkp\win32 users\sandboxes\maintrunk\output_nbkp\win32\Debug users\sandboxes\maintrunk\output_nbkp\win32\Debug\bin ------------------------------------------- as the path. this will still work, and this is what i do. remember these would all have to be different conditions within the same selector. herer is one of mine. i have deleted my name, which is at the start of the path. i have a folder that contains all my stuff that is named after me, but please not that there is no backslash before my name. maybe it would work with a backslash before the first folder, but i don't know. Hope this helps
