Hello,

One specific folder of Photoshop files I try to restore become a strange unique document: "BLDocumentTypeNativeDomain" that try to open with iWeb ?

MacBookPro 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo

4 Gig RAM

OS X 10.5.1 Leopard

Retrospect Backup 6.1.138

Backup was done with previous Mac G5 Duo Tiger OS on second internal hard disk as a "Backup set type: File"

When I am in Retrospect I see all the photoshop files in the folder, restoring 1 file or the complete folder give the same document: "BLDocumentTypeNativeDomain"

Any ideas

STEPS:

Retrospect Directory window:

Immediate

Restore

Select the restore type: Search for files and folders

Backup Set Selection window:

I select the Source backup set..

Destination volume for retrieval window:

Retrieve Files & Folders

I select the disk for retrieval

Searching & Retrieval:Searching window:

file name contains anything

Searching & Retrieval window:

I click on File Chosen where I select the files needed

Option:Normal

I hit Retrieve.

So basically I copy files and folders to a new folder.

It does the same from a snapshot, it's the same for a single file or a folder, it become a single document "BLDocumentTypeNativeDomain" with the name of the backup set, NOT the name of the file or the folder being restored.

All the files in that backup set have the same transformation, but remember I do see them in he list in Retrospect.

Other backup set in the same disk are fine. I will check all the backupset in that disk.

They become part of a "package" after being retrieved, before, within the Retrospect Marking files for Retrieve Window, I see them all.

I ckecked the other Backup sets in that disk, they all look OK but I noticed some are unique: Combine File Backup Set, and some are in 2 parts: Backup Set Catalog + File Backup Set Data, why ?

Actually I just did 2 backups this morning to existing backup sets, one is unique, the other is in two parts.

If a file backup set is small, the catalog and data are combined by default. Once the file backup set's catalog becomes too large for a combined file, Retrospect automatically separates the backup set into the data file and the catalog file that you see.

If you ever move the data file of a given file backup set to a different folder, be sure to move the associated catalog file to the same folder.

The issue of combined or separated is not related to the reported problem.

Since you provided detailed steps before this, I'd like to see detailed steps that confirm the difference between a Search for Files Restore (which does not use Retrospect's Snapshot feature) and the other options for a Restore, which do use Snapshots.

- If you right-click (or Control+click) and hold on the "BLDocumentTypeNativeDomain" item, do you get a contextual menu that includes "Show Package Contents" ? What do you see if you select that menu choice?
