jriggin
a) Retrospect Version 7.5.387 Driver Update and Hot Fix, Version 7.5.12.103 c) Dell Powervault 124T d) Retrospect is running on Windows 2003 Server We have 3 backup sets (3 weeks worth). Each Sunday we do a Full Backup and Recycle transfer to a backup set. This problem has occured 3 times where we get in the office and Retrospect is waiting for media. For example yesterday it happened and a simple restart of Retrospect fixed it. Today when I checked it was waiting for media. I stopped the tape transfer and restarted Retrospect. I checked the devices and the 3rd tape in the Backup set B was recognized and loaded. However when I started the transfer to tape script again it asked me to add a tape to the backup set. I added the tape and it erased it and named it 2-Backup Set B even though the barcode is 1-3 and it was the 3rd tape, not the 2nd. Now the whole backup set is going to be messed up and I'm guessing I'll need to re-create the entire thing. Any clues as to why this keeps happening? Mayoff
Sorry, I don't fully understand the description of the problem. Tapes are always named in sequential order 1-BU Set A 2-BU Set A 3-BU Set A The bar code on the tape has no impact on the name actually written to the tape. The bar code is only used help find tapes with specific names or that are erased. The backup Set Properties Windows will look like this http://screencast.com/t/BraJauKX Notice the bar code and tape name have no overlaps. Retrospect writes to a tape until it fills, then asks for a new tape.
