msboswell
I'm using Retrospect 6.1.138 to try to backup a WindowsXP client (Retro client v7.5.116). This machine suddenly stopped backing up a few weeks ago. My log indicates "Can't access volume Documents on MyClientComputerName , error -3158 (unknown). Similarly, when using the Network Clients "Test..." and "Add by Address..." functions I get an error dialog which indicates "Sorry, can't connect to backup client myclient.domain.gov error -3158 (unknown). This happens immediately, not after a timeout such as when connecting to an unused address. This error is not listed on the Retrospect Error Code Table (http://kb.dantz.com/display/2n/_index1.asp?tab=opt2&r=0.9906972). Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this error or what I might do about it? I've reinstalled the client software several times (and at least two different versions). It always indicates "Waiting for first access." The Windows firewall isn't blocking it (as far as I can determine, there are exceptions for "Retrospect Client" and "retroclient"). Other Windows clients connect/backup fine. Retrospect version 6.1.126 had the same problem (hence the upgrade to .138). Retrospect is running on Mac OS X 10.3.9 on a PowerMac G4.
