bmoore
Hi, I have a problem with some of my windows clients, some of them, at some point disconnect from the server. I see them in the client list but when I try to connect to them throught the server, I get a error -530. If I uninstall the client and reinstall it, the client is up again. Does anyone have an idea? rhwalker
Brigitte, The KB article that Robin linked is a good one for things to investigate. A common cause is when the clients go to sleep (it's seen on the Mac version and on the Windows version). Your reinstallation of the client may be a red herring because the client may be awake when you try it again. Different solutions have been proposed for the Mac and Windows versions. Some solutions involve using a scheduled job (or OS setting) to automatically wake the client up just before its backup is due to happen, or turning off "sleep" settings. This is one way to confirm whether this is your problem. Another solution is to cause the "magic packet" to be sent to each client prior to its scheduled backup. Search these forums for how to do that - javascript and other solutions have been used successfully, but there is no direct setting in Retrospect to cause this to happen. Good luck, Russ
bmoore
Thank you both, I will check out if the clients are on "sleep mode". Brigitte
