sys2061
As happened to "bartch" in this thread, Retrospect is stopping my CD/DVD drives from working. Windows Explorer is giving me messages such as "E:\ is not accessible. Access is denied." I was close to dismantling my PC to diagnose a hardware problem when I stumbled on that thread. (I get the focus-stealing bug too, which I understand will be fixed soon.) If I terminate the Retrospect GUI from system tray, my optical drives start working again. Mayoff closed the above-mentioned thread, suggesting anyone wanting troubleshooting help should start a new thread, so "Please help!" I had a look with Process Explorer, and it turns out that Retrospect.exe is holding locks on \Device\CdRom0 and \Device\CdRom1. If I force these handles to close, my E: and F: become accessible again, for a while. Several minutes later, a new Retrospect.exe process replaces the old one (for some reason), and it locks the drives again. I'm running a week-old Windows XP SP2 system, with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (dual-core) and 2GB of RAM. I get the problem whether I use nVidia's IDE drivers or Microsoft's. Please let me know if any other details will help.
Mayoff
Express HD is incorrectly loading a driver for your DVD drive. This is a bug we need to fix. If you use the Full Retrospect product, you can ignore the DVD driver so this doesn't happen.
