dg27
Each week I back up my system drive and one storage drive to two separate locations each, one an external IDE drive and the other an onboard SATA drive. Last night both backups failed: they were scheduled to go the onboard SATA. In both cases the error message I got was "Error -106, data overwrite attempt." Can someone please advise as to what this might mean? I checked the destination drive and everything appears in order: the drive is accessible last week's backup files are there. Thanks. dg
Mayoff
Check the Windows Event Logs for Delayed Write Failure errors. Sometimes you will see them with the 106 error. It could be a sign of a failing drive.

DWitteried
I was getting the same error but could not correct it. I finally did a Recycle Backup which made the problem go away. Not a good solution, but it got my backups going again.
